Autumn Splendor: A Grand Journey from Lake Como to Milan
When the autumn hues began to paint Northern Italy, we embarked on a captivating journey through the enchanting landscapes of Lake Como and the bustling cityscape of Milan. This meticulously crafted expedition across breathtaking vistas, delectable cuisine, scenic trails, and serene boat rides created an Opulent Oasis experience of a lifetime.
Our adventure commenced in Menaggio, a quaint haven on the western shores of Lake Como. Its mesmerizing blend of pastel houses, cobblestone streets, and lively cafés instantly captured our hearts. One of the highlights in Menaggio was the panoramic hike to Cadenabbia di Griante. The trail, winding through verdant landscapes and rustic villages, provided unforgettable views of the glimmering lake. For a taste of local cuisine, Trattoria La Vecchia Magnolia offers a variety of delicious Italian dishes that we can wholeheartedly recommend.
The following day, a short drive transported us across the border to Lake Lugano in Switzerland. Lake Lugano, set amidst towering peaks, was a tranquil sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle. We suggest taking the Olive trail - an excellent hike that not only showcases beautiful lake views but also educates about the local fauna and flora.
From Switzerland, our journey led us back to Italy, to the charming lakeside village of Varenna. A ferry ride across Lake Como offered us an exhilarating sense of tranquility and an opportunity to appreciate the lake's grandeur. In Varenna, the steep hike to Vezio Castle was a memorable experience that offered breathtaking views of the lake and a peek into the region's rich history.
Moving on, we arrived at the vibrant Como town, where the past met the present in a harmonious blend. An unexpected culinary gem we discovered here was the family-run Ristorante Rino. Their seasonal menu, highlighting local specialities, was a delicious foray into authentic Italian cuisine.
Bellagio, fondly known as the 'Pearl of the Lake,' was the final jewel in our Lake Como adventure. Here, we took a leisurely walk from the town center to Punta Spartivento, where a 360-degree view of the lake awaits. Our experience in Bellagio was further enhanced by a two-hour boat trip around the lake. Gliding over the placid waters, we absorbed the tranquil beauty of Lake Como. To satiate your sweet tooth, Gelateria del Borgo in Bellagio offers some of the best artisanal gelato we've ever tasted.
Leaving the serenity of Lake Como behind, we transitioned to the dynamic spirit of Milan. The city welcomed us with a pulsating energy that was distinctly its own. After the soul-stirring performance at the legendary Sting concert, we found ourselves weaving through the city's world-class shopping districts - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Via della Moscova. These places are a fashion enthusiast's paradise.
In Milan, the culinary adventure continued. Dining at Via Pasteria was a gastronomic delight we won't soon forget. Their Passion for turning simple traditional Italian dishes in to nothing short of perfection, from the daily imported ingredients from all parts of Italy to the welcoming interior design to the most wonderful host and chef made our dining experience there truly extraordinary, and it quickly shot to the top of our list of the world's best restaurants and made us run back for more just before we had to leave for our flight (not to mention that neither of us could stop ourselves from ordering a second main course each).

As we wandered through Milan's iconic landmarks like the majestic Duomo and Sforza Castle, we relished in the city's blend of historic charm and contemporary buzz. Each day concluded with a stroll down the Navigli district, known for its vibrant nightlife and picturesque canals.
